SSSD seems to be the more modern alternative to nslcd to integrate login processes with LDAP. It also supports using sshPublicKey atrributes which would save us from using yet another hacky shell-script to lookup users public keys, but rather have a properly maintained binary which uses the same configuration that the regular login process uses (instead of writing service credentils into yet another file).
